As engineers we were approached by the
Reverend Ray Biddiss back in
the summer of 2007, he asked if we could create a trailed
hearse capable of being pulled by a Motorcycle Trike.
The idea of a trailed hearse is not a new one by any means but the Reverend wanted something that was streamlined and elegant but most of all functional. We researched other present day creations and found them all to be a little on the large side and rather gothic in style and when trailed behind a Trike appeared to overshadow it's presence. There was no doubt that we had to design & build the whole hearse from start to finish. Our local funeral directors were very helpful indeed by allowing us to see where rollers and coffin stop pegs were located and the height the coffin should travel at to ensure ease of removal. This was both a challenging & exciting project, the finished article being exactly what the Reverend had hoped for, an alternative farewell for friends & loved ones. The Maybury Classic is so versatile it can be trailed behind a Trike, a Classic Car, Steam Engine or Tractor etc. We have the in house skills to make any design you require, from the Maybury Classic to an open topped or the larger than life model with a built in lifting device for the bigger than average coffin. The larger trailed hearse would be designed to be towed behind a car or any vehicle with a greater pulling power than a Motorcycle Trike. The Reverend Ray Biddiss has for a long time now specialised in
carrying out funeral services where he arrives on his Motorbike; now
with the trailered funeral hearse he will be able to collect the
coffin from it’s place of rest, arrival at the funeral service
location & conduct the service. |
